GENERAL DUTIES

Maintains Laboratory Information System hardware and software. Troubleshoots problems in a timely manner, Reporting issues to the LIS vendor as needed:

  • Schedules, validates software and hardware upgrades per vendor specifications. Troubleshoots and resolves system issues. Configures and monitors foreign systems and instrument interfaces. Validates the integrity of data in the LIS system as well as in downstream systems. Develops and maintaining policies, procedures and documentation that pertain to the LIS.

Financial management:

  • Develops and implements a strategic plan to accurately forecast LIS expenses. Assists laboratory sections in budget preparation.

Regulatory compliance and quality improvement:

  • Evaluates and monitors the quality of laboratory operations and compliance with regulatory agencies. Participates in and supports hospital-wide quality initiatives and preparation for on-site surveys by regulatory agencies.

Equipment and supplies Manages departmental inventory and ordering. Schedules and performs hardware maintenance to minimize downtime and disruption of services:

Orients employees to LIS processes and procedures. Assists in their competency assessments, provides input for performance evaluations:

  • Sets clear expectations for employees with respect to their LIS usage. Maintains employees' accountability in following all hospital and Lab policies and procedures with respect to their use of the LIS.

EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

2 years related information technology and/or management

Experience with SOFT LIS or 2 years managing a LIS.

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Training and development in supervision and business operations.
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel.
  • Experience with data extraction.
  • Creating customized reports and report scheduling highly desirable.
