Trauma Services Hospital Based Advanced Practice Provider

Who we are looking for

Kootenai Health is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner experienced in general surgery with both adults and pediatrics or other surgical specialties to practice at our regional referral center hospital located in beautiful Coeur dAlene, Idaho. Ideal candidates will have a strong focus on quality, safety, teamwork, and patient satisfaction, and have experience working in busy surgical clinic and hospital departments.

What you can expect

Joining an experienced group of physicians and advanced practice professionals, APP scope includes:

• Surgery assist • Hospital rounding • Surgery follow-up appointments • New patient appointments • Tele-health visits

Full-time is no less than 40 hours per week with 32 hours of patient-facing time.

NP Responsibilities

Orders, interprets, and records results of clinical tests and reports results to physicians. Prescribes medications and makes recommendations for other therapeutic forms of treatment.

A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Typically reports to a physician.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field.

Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function.

Competent to meet age-specific needs of the unit assigned.

NP Requirements and Minimum Qualifications

MSN degree or higher from an accredited nurse practitioner program required.

Nationally recognized as a Nurse Practitioner.

Clinical experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Holds a current NP and RN license to practice in the state of Idaho required.

PA Responsibilities

Assesses, plans, and provides patient care under the supervision of a physician.

Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examinations, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination.

Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.

Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Performs a variety of tasks.

A wide degree of creativity and latitude is required.

Typically reports to a physician.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Competent to meet age-specific needs of the unit assigned.

PA Requirements and Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Health Science required.

Physician Assistant Certificate of Registration with the Idaho Medical Board or is certification eligible and is certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants required.

Qualified under the rules of the DEA for prescriptive practices required.

Qualified under CMS regulations for patient care and billing practices required.

BLS Required. Current AHA Healthcare provider, American Red Cross AHA Health Saver, or KHBLS within 60 days of hire.

Working Conditions

Must be able to maintain a standing and/or sitting position.

Typical equipment used in a clinical job.

Must be able to lift or move up to 25 lbs.
