The salary for this position starts at $18.00 hourly. We take into consideration an individual's background and experience in determining salary; therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of other benefits and earned time off that vary depending on part-time or full-time status.
- Job Summary:
The Kitchen Coordinator serves healthy and nutritious meals for participants. The incumbent maintains appropriate health standards, safety, cleanliness and adequate food supply levels. The incumbent maintains CACFP and MDH expectations.
- Essential Functions:
- Serves healthy and nutritious meals for participants and groups; food is prepared & delivered by catering company.
- Participates in the planning of menus which meet necessary nutrition and dietary needs.
- Updates allergy, intolerance & parent preference charts for classrooms and kitchen.
- Maintains safety and cleanliness standards in the kitchen areas.
- Assists with the purchasing and inventory of food supplies as needed.
- Maintains CACFP and Minnesota Department of Health Licensing records for meals and snacks.
- May be asked to support classroom staff by being in ratio
- Attend monthly team member meetings and in service trainings
- Relationships:
This position reports to the Child Care Program Director. The incumbent regularly interacts with participants, general public, staff, and volunteers.
- Qualifications:
Required:
- Minimum age of 18
- Possessor ability to obtain Food Safe Certification by the county Public Health Department.
- Knowledge of kitchen operating procedures and food handling and storage
- Effective interpersonal communication skills
- Ability and desire to work with child care staff and other young people.
- Knowledge of kitchen operating procedures and food handling and storage.
- Dedication to the philosophy and mission of the YMCA programs.
Preferred:
- Education/training in nutrition
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in food preparation
- Ability to obtain Minnesota DHS Rule 3 or Wisconsin HFS 46 qualifications, including yearly in service requirements.
- Work Conditions:
- Requires lifting up to 50 pounds
- Requires ability to safely operate all necessary kitchen equipment and cleaning supplies. (The incumbent utilizes equipment which can be potentially dangerous to include knives, warmers, dishwasher, and cleaning chemicals)

- Ability to travel to other branches and programs
- Must be flexible to work varying hours to meet the needs of the site
