Position Overview
Position Summary
The Kitchen / Back of House (BOH) Manager is responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality food preparation, maintaining food safety standards, managing inventory and labor costs, and leading a team of kitchen staff in a fast-paced waterfront restaurant environment. This role is critical in delivering a consistent guest experience while fostering a positive and efficient kitchen culture. This Company emphasizes fresh ingredients, scratch-made items, consistency, cleanliness, and strong leadership.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead all back-of-house staff in daily operations
- Create and manage employee schedules to ensure proper staffing levels
- Maintain organization, efficiency, and communication within the kitchen
- Oversee food quality, consistency, and timely execution during service
- Assist with expo operations and support line cooks during peak hours
- Train, mentor, and develop kitchen staff while promoting accountability
- Handle employee issues, difficult situations, and operational challenges professionally
- Maintain cleanliness, food safety, and health code compliance standards
- Help foster a positive, team-oriented work environment
- Coordinate with ownership and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth operations
- Monitor labor efficiency and assist with overall kitchen management responsibilities
Qualifications
- Previous scratch kitchen restaurant management experience, required at 2-3 year's experience in this field
- Experience with scheduling and staff supervision required
- Strong leadership and conflict-resolution skills
- Cooking and expo experience preferred
- Ability to remain calm and organized in a fast-paced environment
- Team-player mentality with a hands-on leadership style
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to motivate staff and maintain high standards during busy shifts
