Title: Kihansi Spray Toad Assistant

Department: Herpetology

Reports To: Curator, Collection Manager, Senior Keepers

Employment Type: Part Time, Non-Exempt

Schedule: Sunday-Tuesday: 8:00 am-5:00 pm

Pay Range: $18.00 per hour

Position Summary:

This is a part-time position designed to assist the Kihansi Spray Toad Keeper with the day-to-day care of our bio-secure collection of Kihansi Spray Toads. The collection is part of a reintroduction program aimed at establishing the species in the habitat from which it went extinct.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Providing census data for the collection
  • Cleaning/disinfecting enclosures
  • Feeding animals
  • Performing routine water quality analysis
  • Propagation of live food items
  • Data collection
  • Detailed record keeping
  • Keeping the bio-secure room clean and organized

Qualification Requirements:

  • High school diploma and a degree in Biology or a related field preferred
  • Previous experience with the care of captive amphibians
  • Experience with water systems

Physical Requirements:

  • The position requires outdoor work in all weather conditions.
  • Some tasks require climbing, kneeling, bending, navigating uneven terrain, and moderate lifting to 50 pounds.
