Position Details

POSITION: Elementary School Teacher LOCATION: East Leroy Elementary School REPORTS TO: Building Principal

SALARY: Per Athens Education Association Master Agreement

EFFECTIVE DATE: August 2026

Minimum Qualications:

• Possess a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
• Valid Michigan teaching certicate
• Certication in K-5 all subjects/K-8 Self-contained classroom
• Strong foundation in the essential instructional practices in literacy and mathematics

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Teach the Athens Area Schools approved curriculum.
• Willing and able to deliver effective classroom instruction and management.
• Regularly assess and progress monitor students and utilize data to drive instruction
• Have a strong desire to work with elementary school-aged students and their parents.
• Be willing to participate in a variety of extra-curricular and co-curricular activities, including staff development and curriculum development.
• Be willing to work as part of a building team towards the improvement of instruction.
• Be open to continuous change.
• Be an excellent communicator with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
