The detention officer will directly supervise detention residents in their day to day programming with an emphasis on safety, security, and behavior control. Location of job is subject to change Example of Duties Work a schedule that will involve working weekends, evenings or nightsSupervise residents in program activities such as meals, showers, school, indoor and outdoor recreation and parental visitationComplete the intake and orientation process of juvenile offenders into the detention centerConduct frequent building and cell checks to ensure a safe working environmentConduct searches as required to control contrabandRestrain violent youths as directed by the Shift Leader or other detention administrator Participate in required fire drills as directed by the Shift LeaderPerform housekeeping tasks as needed to maintain facility cleanliness Maintain daily activity logs and reportsWrite detention discipline and or incident reports as requiredKeep the Shift Leader apprised of any safety or security concernsJob descriptions will primarily confine the officer to duties within the detention center; however, a Supervision Officer may be required to perform duties outside the normal job description such as transportation, community service or cleaning details.
