Juvenile Supervision Officer- Juvenile Justice Department Salary $18.39 - $21.95 Hourly Location 20875 County Road 171 Angleton, TX Job Type Full Time Job Number 00001204 Department Juvenile Justice Department Opening Date 06/14/2021 Closing Date Continuous Description Benefits Description The Supervision Officer reports directly to the Shift Leader then to the Shift Supervisor, Supervisor, Facility Administrator, and ultimately to the Chief Juvenile Probation Officer. The detention officer will directly supervise detention residents in their day to day programming with an emphasis on safety, security, and behavior control. Location of job is subject to change Example of Duties Work a schedule that will involve working weekends, evenings or nightsSupervise residents in program activities such as meals, showers, school, indoor and outdoor recreation and parental visitationComplete the intake and orientation process of juvenile offenders into the detention centerConduct frequent building and cell checks to ensure a safe working environmentConduct searches as required to control contrabandRestrain violent youths as directed by the Shift Leader or other detention administrator Participate in required fire drills as directed by the Shift LeaderPerform housekeeping tasks as needed to maintain facility cleanliness Maintain daily activity logs and reportsWrite detention discipline and or incident reports as requiredKeep the Shift Leader apprised of any safety or security concernsJob descriptions will primarily confine the officer to duties within the detention center; however, a Supervision Officer may be required to perform duties outside the normal job description such as transportation, community service or cleaning details. Qualifications Required: At least 21 years of ageRequired: High school diploma or GEDPreferred: Bachelors degree within the Behavioral Sciences field (Criminology, Sociology, Psychology) or at least two years of college in one of these fieldsPreferred: 1 year experience working in some capacity with juveniles whether incarcerated or in the mental health or educational fieldsAbility to perform in a mentally and physically demanding working environmentDesire to work directly with troubled juvenilesCapacity to effect positive change and be a superior role model Supplemental Information PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
