Hourly Wage:

About Juvenile Detention & Diversion Services Supervisor:

Supervises daily operations of Linn County's Juvenile Detention and Diversion Services (JDDS), providing leadership and coordination for staff working with youth in both secure and community-based settings. This role manages staff assignments, program compliance, client intake, vehicle and equipment logistics, and ensures effective communication with court officials, community partners, and internal teams to support high-quality service delivery.

Essential Functions

  • Supervises diversion and detention staff, providing daily guidance, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
  • Assigns clients to diversion staff and monitors caseload progress and program participation.
  • Coordinates court hearings and resident preparation with case coordinators, attorneys, and juvenile court officers.
  • Manages the intake process including entry into Evolv and ongoing census tracking.
  • Prepares, posts, and adjusts staff schedules in Dayforce; ensures coverage ratios are maintained.
  • Coordinates vehicle maintenance and monitors usage and mileage for the JDDS vehicle fleet.
  • Orders and tracks electronic monitoring devices and other diversion supplies to ensure availability.
  • Completes monthly diversion statistics, staff payroll, and timesheet verification.
  • Leads staff meetings, facilitates training, conducts interviews, and provides routine check-ins with staff.
  • Provides direct support to residents and staff, including coverage on pods, supervision during activities, and problem-solving as needed.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in social sciences or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience in the last five (5) years in a related field required with experience in the care, counseling, and management of dependent, neglected, or delinquent youth, including some experience in the development, supervision, or administration of juvenile corrections or child protective programs.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required knowledge and skills for this position may be considered.

Special Necessary Requirements:

May require the following specialized licenses and certifications: Medication Dispensing Certification, CPR Certification, Mandt Certification. Must complete Mandatory Child Abuse Reporter Training within 1 year of date of hire. Must pass a County physical examination which includes a drug test after offer of employment. Subject to criminal and credit history review. Valid Driver's License required.
