The Texas State Auditor's Office (SAO) is updating certain job classification titles for the new biennium and TEA is working to align identified titles to the new State Position Classification Plan. In FY26, the state classification title of Investigator VI will be updated to Investigator V. This administrative change will not impact the compensation classification, duties, or responsibilities of this position in any way. By working closely with school systems and agency teams, we help ensure every Texas public school student has access to a safe, high-quality education.
The Division of Compliance and Inquiries plays a vital role in supporting accountability and integrity across Texas schools. This team manages and responds to written complaints from a wide range of stakeholders, including parents, educators, students, vendors, and public officials, ensuring concerns are addressed thoroughly and with care.
The analyst position is central to this work, responsible for reviewing complaints, determining next steps, and coordinating with the investigative team when needed. This role involves direct communication with constituents and school personnel, and requires sound judgment, autonomy, and a commitment to upholding the values of the OG.
Flexible work location within the state of Texas may be considered for qualified candidates.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Jurisdictional Review: review complaint allegations to determine TEA authority under state and federal law, including but not limited to the Texas Administrative Code and Texas Education Code
Risk Assessment and Analysis: identify the potential risks associated with the allegation(s) and assess the relative severity of each alleged violation
Customer Service and Stakeholder Collaboration: ensure all correspondence, internal memorandums, and documentation related to complaints are processed timely and accurately, in compliance with FERPA and other applicable laws and regulations
Cross-Divisional Collaboration: partner with internal investigative units and general counsel to determine necessary actions to achieve compliance
Process Improvement: collaborate with colleagues and unit manager to develop or refine policies and procedures that support the team's strategy, including partnering with other agency divisions to develop and share techniques, resources, and best practices
