SUMMARY:
The Junior Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine preventive maintenance activities, lubrication tasks, facility upkeep, housekeeping support, and basic repairs throughout the facility. This position supports equipment reliability and facility appearance by executing scheduled maintenance activities, maintaining clean and safe work environments, and assisting maintenance personnel with day-to-day operations. Working in conjunction with other departments and department employees, the Junior Maintenance Technician helps maintain a safe, organized, and operational facility while developing technical maintenance skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Strive towards a culture of proactive safety.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks on manufacturing equipment and facility systems.
- Complete lubrication routes and equipment inspections according to established schedules.
- Replace filters, belts, light bulbs, batteries, and other routine maintenance items.
- Document completed maintenance activities in the company's CMMS system.
- Identify and report equipment abnormalities, leaks, wear conditions, or safety concerns to maintenance leadership.
- Perform routine housekeeping and janitorial activities in production, warehouse, office, and common areas.
- Operate floor scrubbers, vacuums, and other cleaning equipment.
- Perform basic facility repairs including drywall patching, painting, ceiling tile replacement, and minor carpentry tasks.
- Assist with office moves, furniture assembly, shelving installation, and facility improvement projects.
- Maintain organization of maintenance shops, storage areas, and maintenance inventory.
- Assist senior maintenance personnel with repairs, projects, and equipment installations.
- Support exterior facility maintenance including grounds upkeep, snow removal assistance, and trash management as required.
- Perform safety inspections and complete maintenance logs as required.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities.
- Actively participate in all established company health and safety training programs and comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
- One to three years of experience in facilities maintenance, manufacturing, custodial services, construction, or related field preferred.
- Basic knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and common maintenance practices.
- Ability to follow written work instructions and preventive maintenance procedures.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently on routine tasks and seek assistance when needed.
- Strong verbal communication and teamwork skills.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and perform physical work throughout the shift.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditions.
