Junior Grower Manager / Senior Growing Assistant - Soft Fruit Production

Junior Grower Manager / Senior Growing Assistant - The Job Role Details:

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced growing professional to take responsibility for the production of two soft fruit crops, working closely with an experienced Grower Manager to maximise crop performance, quality and yield.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take day-to-day responsibility for the successful production of two commercial soft fruit crops
  • Monitor crop health, quality and development throughout the growing season
  • Assist with irrigation and fertigation programmes
  • Monitor and respond to pest, disease and nutritional issues
  • Support crop planning to maximise yield, fruit quality and productivity
  • Maintain accurate crop records and production data
  • Work closely with harvest, technical and farm management teams
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety, food safety and quality assurance standards
  • Contribute towards continuous improvement of growing systems and production techniques

Essential Candidate Skills & Experience:

  • Commercial experience growing at least one of the following:
    • Strawberries
    • Raspberries
    • Blueberries
    • Blackberries
  • Strong understanding of commercial soft fruit production
  • Passion for horticulture and commercial crop production
  • Excellent observational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider growing team
  • Good organisational and communication skills
  • Full UK driving licence (preferred)

Desirable:

  • Experience working across multiple soft fruit crops
  • Previous responsibility for irrigation and fertigation programmes
  • BASIS, FACTS or relevant horticultural qualifications
  • Experience supervising seasonal staff
  • Ambition to progress into a Grower Manager position

Working Hours:

Monday to Friday, with flexibility required during peak seasonal periods and harvest.
