WOOD + WATER
Junior Cabinet Project Manager
$45,000-$65,000/ year
About Wood + Water
Wood + Water is a kitchen and bath design studio specializing in cabinetry, countertops, fixtures, appliances, and thoughtful remodeling support. We help clients create functional, beautiful spaces through strong design, quality materials, and a detail-focused process. We are a small, fast-moving team that values accuracy, clear communication, accountability, organization, collaboration, and practical problem-solving.
We are seeking an organized and motivated Junior Cabinet Project Manager / Project Coordinator to support cabinetry design and installation projects from the design and sales handoff through ordering, delivery, installation, punch-list completion, and closeout. This is an entry-level or early-career position designed for someone who wants to build a long-term career in cabinetry, kitchen and bath design, residential construction, or project management.
Working under the guidance of the owner, senior designer, or experienced project manager, this person will coordinate project information, schedules, material orders, client updates, jobsite readiness, and project documentation. As training and experience increase, the employee will progressively take ownership of projects and routine project-management decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with cabinetry and kitchen-and-bath projects from design and sales handoff through delivery, installation, punch list, and completion.
- Review project drawings, cabinetry layouts, elevations, specifications, selections, measurements, and installation requirements for completeness and accuracy.
- Assist with estimates, proposals, project budgets, and supporting documentation under the direction of a senior team member.
- Process and track cabinetry, hardware, countertops, fixtures, appliances, and other project materials; review order acknowledgements and report discrepancies promptly.
- Maintain project schedules and coordinate key milestones, approvals, deliveries, installations, site visits, and follow-up work.
- Provide routine and proactive project updates to clients, designers, vendors, installers, builders, and trade partners.
- Coordinate schedules and communicate assigned tasks to installers, contractors, vendors, and internal team members.
- Confirm jobsite readiness before deliveries and installations, including access, measurements, utilities, site conditions, and required documentation.
- Support field measurements and conduct jobsite visits as needed to verify progress, document conditions, and help resolve project concerns.
- Maintain organized project files, notes, schedules, approvals, change-order documentation, delivery records, and client communications.
- Track damaged, missing, or incorrect materials and assist with replacement orders, service requests, and resolution follow-up.
- Maintain punch lists and coordinate completion of outstanding installation or service items.
- Identify potential schedule, material, design, or field issues early and escalate them to the appropriate senior team member.
- Assist with maintaining an organized, professional, and up-to-date showroom and sample library.
- Pick up and transport samples, hardware, cabinet components, and other project materials between the showroom, vendors, storage locations, and jobsites as needed.
- Help improve project-management processes, checklists, templates, and communication practices to strengthen accuracy and client satisfaction.
- Represent Wood + Water professionally and maintain a calm, solutions-focused approach when unexpected challenges arise.
Qualifications
- Zero to two years of experience in project coordination, cabinetry, kitchen and bath design, residential construction, estimating, purchasing, customer service, administration, or a related field is preferred; recent graduates and career changers are encouraged to apply.
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in interior design, construction management, architecture, business, or a related field is preferred but not required. Relevant work experience may be considered in place of a degree.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and follow detailed processes.
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills with clients, vendors, installers, contractors, and team members.
- High attention to detail and a willingness to double-check drawings, measurements, order information, schedules, and documentation.
- Basic ability to read floor plans, cabinet layouts, elevations, and specifications, or a strong willingness to learn.
- Experience or coursework with 2020 Design, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, project-management software, or scheduling tools is preferred; training may be provided.
- Practical problem-solving skills, accountability, dependability, and comfort asking questions or escalating concerns when appropriate.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-moving, client-focused environment.
- Valid driver license, reliable transportation, and ability to visit jobsites throughout the Raleigh area as needed.
- Ability to safely lift, carry, load, and unload items weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Pay and Benefits
- $45,000 to $65,000 per year, based on relevant experience, education, technical knowledge, and qualifications.
- Full-time position with a Monday-through-Friday schedule, jobsite visits, and occasional schedule flexibility based on project needs.
- Opportunity to work on high-quality cabinetry, kitchen, bath, and remodeling projects within a growing design studio.
- Structured onboarding and hands-on training in Wood + Water processes, cabinetry products, order review, project scheduling, installation coordination, and client communication.
- Progressive responsibility based on demonstrated accuracy, reliability, communication, and project knowledge.
- A formal performance review after approximately six months, including consideration of compensation adjustments based on performance and increased responsibility.
- Opportunity to advance into an independent Cabinet Project Manager role as skills and experience develop.
- Benefits and any additional compensation details will be discussed during the hiring process.
