Position Overview
Our client, a growing wholesale fuel distributor, is seeking a motivated, relationship-driven Jr.Territory Sales Representative to develop and expand branded and unbranded fuel supply business throughout Western Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. This is an outstanding opportunity for a true hunter who enjoys building a territory, opening new doors, and developing long-term relationships with independent convenience store owners and fuel retailers. You'll spend the majority of your time in the field meeting with customers, identifying new opportunities, negotiating fuel supply agreements, and serving as a trusted advisor to your accounts. This is a highly autonomous role with significant long-term growth potential.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is an energetic, self-motivated sales professional who enjoys being in front of customers and developing business through face-to-face interactions. You're someone who thrives on prospecting, isn't afraid to cold-call or walk into businesses, and understands that lasting customer relationships are built through trust, responsiveness, and consistent follow-through. You have experience selling into small and mid-sized businesses, are comfortable discussing pricing and profitability, and enjoy managing a territory with a high degree of independence. While fuel distribution or convenience store industry experience is highly desirable, we're also interested in candidates with strong outside sales fundamentals who have successfully developed territories and built lasting customer relationships. This position is best suited for someone who prefers calling on local business owners rather than selling to large corporate organizations.

Requirements:
  • Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 3-5 years of successful B2B outside sales experience
  • Proven track record of prospecting, developing new business, and growing a sales territory
  • Experience managing existing customer relationships while continuing to generate new business
  • Strong business and financial aptitude, including comfort discussing pricing, margins, and profitability
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
  • Self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Experience using CRM software and Microsoft Office
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel throughout the assigned territory
  • Must currently reside within or near Western Massachusetts, Connecticut, or Rhode Island
Preferred Experience:
  • Wholesale fuel distribution
  • Petroleum, propane, lubricants, or industrial distribution sales
  • Convenience store industry
  • Calling on independent business owners or multi-site operators
  • Commodity or distribution-based sales environments
Responsibilities:
  • Develop new branded and unbranded wholesale fuel supply business throughout the assigned territory
  • Prospect through cold calling, in-person visits, networking, referrals, and industry events
  • Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline while consistently identifying new business opportunities
  • Establish and grow relationships with independent convenience store owners, fuel retailers, and commercial customers
  • Negotiate pricing and fuel supply agreements while maintaining profitability
  • Manage an existing portfolio of accounts by providing exceptional customer service and ongoing account support
  • Partner with internal operations, logistics, billing, pricing, and credit teams to ensure a seamless customer experience
  • Monitor fuel market activity, pricing trends, and competitive developments
  • Represent the company at trade shows, industry meetings, and customer events
  • Achieve territory growth objectives while expanding market share throughout the region
