Regular Position Summary: Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial and industrial air-conditioning equipment and multi-zone heating and cooling systems to ensure they are working efficiently, properly, and affordably.
Position Details: Install, remove, maintain, and repair HVAC systems and related equipment. Study customers scope of service. Follow the preventative maintenance schedule and perform routine system maintenance, including cleaning and replacing parts, testing for leaks, adjusting controls, and making minor repairs where needed.
Troubleshoot for electrical problems. Make repairs as required. Document and track preventive maintenance accordingly and in compliance with EPA regulations. Maintain efficient environmental conditions. Adjust system controls to recommended settings. Test system performance using special tools and test equipment.
Conserve, recover, and recycle CFC and HCFC refrigerants used in AC and refrigeration systems in compliance with EPA regulations. Test systems for gas leaks, carbon monoxide issues, and fluid leaks. Install and repair fuel and water supply lines. Evaluate customer needs and make recommendations for correction and/or improvement.
Respond directly to customer questions, explain services provided, and provide Dispatch with detailed summary of related costs for billing purposes. Complete all required paperwork in a timely and professional manner. Assist Service Sales with customer scope development, technical analysis, and support for retrofits, upgrades, and/or enhancements to existing equipment.
Mentor, train, and assist apprentices. Perform all work within the confines of Southlands safety rules and regulations. Perform additional assignments as requested or needed.
Qualifications:
• Ability to read blueprints, layout plans, and wiring diagrams • Proficient at inspecting, troubleshooting, and making repairs on air-cooled chillers, reciprocating screw or scroll less than 100 tons • RTU package units, water-source heat pumps, and split systems of any size • AHUs, cooling towers, vane axial fans, pumps, air compressors, air dryers, VAV boxes, and VFDs • Ability to effectively manage time and complete delegated work within specified timeframe • Ability to read and interpret EPA regulations • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people • Ability to work within precise standards of accuracy • Ability and willingness to follow oral and written directions • Ability to successfully pass pre-employment drug-screen and physical tests • Must be available to be on stand-by or work during evenings, weekends, and holidays • Employment is contingent upon satisfying all jobsite-specific access requirements with no outstanding restrictions from any jobsite or from working with any of Southlands partnering General Contractors, Owners, Customers, etc. • High school degree or GED and successful completion of sheet metal apprenticeship program or related trade school • OSHA-10 certification if not currently certified must be obtained within six months from date of hire • Current Universal Refrigerant Recovery Certificate • Valid Texas Driver License and clean driving record
