Journeyman Electrician - Commercial

Repairs, coordinates, and maintains facility equipment, primarily including switch gear, panel boards, distribution, lighting and control equipment at facility to ensure continuous proper operation.

Essential Functions: include the following, other duties may be assigned.

• Performs and documents preventive maintenance on all facility electrical and electronic equipment to ensure continued proper working condition;
• Assists other trade personnel in making various repairs in the arena;
• Performs operation of facility equipment and heavy machinery as required for facility operation;
• Provides emergency repairs to arena equipment during event operations to ensure the success of the event;
• Coordinates and supervises contractors and vendors performing electrical or electronic work in the facility.
• Utilizes CMSS system to include interpreting/prioritizing work orders, performing and completing work orders per instruction; capability of working new systems into building for electrical usage
• Programming and troubleshooting knowledge of PCL based control systems;
• Maintains all electrical circuitry and distribution equipment in excellent working condition, including but not limited to equipment normally involved in the operation of a large multi-use facility;
• Maintains and performs work assignments on all voltage systems including, 120/208,277/480 and 5KV;
• Installs fixtures, wiring conduits and other electrical components;
• Other duties as assigned.

Education/Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The employee should also have the following qualifications:                                                     

• High School Diploma or equivalent,
• 5 to 10 years Journeyman experience, plus advanced education in the maintenance repair and operation of electrical equipment, mechanical and production-based equipment and control systems both high and low voltages and typical public assembly of facility equipment.
• City of Dallas Journeyman/Electrician valid in working jurisdiction without restrictions.
• Current Licensing and Regulation by the Department of Texas.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred
• Must possess the technical and mechanical ability to read and understand blueprints and technical diagrams
• Knowledge of tools and equipment necessary to perform repairs on various equipment used in arena.
• Knowledge of advanced principles, practices and techniques of the electrical and electronic trade.
• Knowledge of public assembly facility equipment repair;
• Knowledge of basic carpentry, plumbing and metal work;
• Knowledge of maintenance practices for facility systems;
• Advanced knowledge of electrical systems and electrical systems repairs;
• Ability to operate electrical and electronic testing equipment;
• Knowledge of up-to-date principles, practices and techniques of the trade.
• Working knowledge of National Electrical Code and NFPA code are absolute.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

• Ability to reach with hands and arms use hands to handle, or feel, stand, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, walk and sit;
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds while twisting and/or turning working at heights and frequent climbing of stairs and ladders;
• Ability to work in small and confined spaces
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• Ability to work at heights and in extreme conditions.
• Must be flexible in ability to work all hours/shifts in a 24/7 facility.  Work hours are based on Events.
• Ability to respond on an immediate basis during normal business hours, after hours and on weekends via mobile phone is required/company phone allowance is provided on bi-weekly basis as compensation for this job requirement/employee must purchase mobile phone and service plan of their own choosing with responsibility for the repair and/or replacement of the phone.
• Employees with this phone access requirement are not restricted in their movement, location, and activities during off hours when they are not at work.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however, during events, the noise level may be loud; 
• Position is required to work in exposed wet and/or humid conditions;
• Position is required to work near moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat and risk of electrical shock;
• Employees must be able to work on evenings, weekends and holidays as required.
