Murrey's Disposal, a Waste Connections Company, is seeking a reliable, safety-focused Diesel Mechanic in Fife, WA, to support our heavy-duty truck and equipment maintenance operations.


This position offers competitive hourly pay, a CDL premium, and a swing shift differential. This is a full-time, year-round opportunity for experienced diesel mechanics who are looking to work in a stable, safety-driven environment with long-term career growth.

Compensation & BenefitsPay: $37.00 - $41.00/hour (DOE)CDL Premium: +$1.00/hour for CDL holdersShift Differential: +$1.50/hour for swing shift

Schedule & OvertimeShift: Monday - Friday, 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM]Overtime: Average [8-10 hours/week], paid at 1.5x


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and repairs on diesel trucks and trailers
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and software (Cummins Insite, Davie-4, Allison DOC) to troubleshoot issues
  • Conduct DOT and OSHA-compliant safety inspections
  • Review and address Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs)
  • Perform basic welding and fabrication tasks as needed
  • Test drive vehicles to verify repair quality and performance
  • Accurately document repairs, parts usage, and labor using fleet maintenance systems
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment
  • Communicate effectively with drivers, supervisors, and team members
  • Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)


Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Work performed in both shop and outdoor environments
  • Exposure to noise, grease, fumes, dust, and varying weather conditions
  • Work around heavy trucks, machinery, and active yard operations
  • Ability to stand, bend, climb, and work in physically demanding positions for extended periods
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move items over 50 pounds regularly


Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of diesel mechanic, heavy truck, or equipment repair experience (3+ years preferred for Mechanic level roles)
  • Valid driver's license required
  • CDL preferred or ability to obtain within a designated timeframe
  • Must have personal tools required to perform job duties
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
  • Welding and fabrication experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and safety regulations
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and as part of a team
  • SAFETY SENSITIVE: YES
