CMA Development is hiring a Journeyman Carpenter to support daily field work while maintaining high standards of craftsmanship and professionalism on the jobsite. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in doing quality work, works well with others, and can contribute to a productive and organized field environment. The right candidate is dependable, skilled, and ready to help keep projects moving forward with consistency and care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform rough and finish carpentry with precision and consistency
  • Assist with day-to-day field work on active residential construction sites
  • Complete assigned carpentry tasks efficiently and to a high standard
  • Support layout, framing, blocking, installation, and finish work as needed
  • Work alongside lead carpenters, foremen, superintendents, and subcontractors to keep projects progressing
  • Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized jobsite environment
  • Follow construction drawings, instructions, and project specifications
  • Communicate material needs, field conditions, and progress updates to site leadership
  • Assist with preparing for inspections and completing jobsite punch work
  • Represent the company professionally on-site with clients, trade partners, and team members

Qualifications

  • 5 or more years of carpentry experience in residential construction
  • High-end residential remodel or custom home experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of rough carpentry, layout, envelope work, and finish carpentry
  • Ability to read plans and follow direction accurately
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Dependable, hardworking, and able to work well as part of a team
  • Strong communication and professionalism on the jobsite
  • Must be able to provide standard personal carpentry hand tools used in daily work
  • Valid California driver's license and reliable personal transportation preferred

Pay and Benefits

  • Full-time, W-2 Employee
  • Pay: $40 to $55 per hour, based on experience for Carpenters
  • $500 annual reimbursement for tools, continuing education, or professional development
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, typical construction-site hours 7-330; occasional early starts or overtime based on project needs
  • Travel: Local travel between Bay Area job sites required
