Journey Line Specialist (Cable Technician)

This job is eligible for relocation assistance to Colorado Springs.

The starting pay rate for this job is $66.01 followed by an increase to $69.31 after probation.

If you''''ve completed a line apprenticeship program and have at least two years of journey-level line experience, come join our team as a Journey Line Specialist (Cable Technician)! Our Cable Technicians are responsible for the operational needs and maintenance of our electric distribution system that serves over 500,000 customers across Colorado Springs. Please note that the successful candidate will be subject to working in adverse work and weather conditions and subject to working overtime and on an on-call rotation with a 60-minute site response time.

What Else Will You be Doing?

  • Responding to underground outages to assist in power service restoration
  • Setting up clearances and hotline holds for emergency power restoration
  • Assisting in the construction, maintenance, and removal of underground and overhead power lines and equipment
  • Ensuring quality of work performed in compliance with standard operating policies
  • Performing clean-up and safe handling of hazardous waste from system equipment
  • Performing distribution and transmission switching to accommodate repairs and clearances
  • Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and work procedures
  • Reviewing technical documents and designs for accuracy

Who You Are

  • Completion of a line apprenticeship program
  • Minimum of two years of journey-level line experience
  • Possession of a valid, unrestricted driver''''s license and a Class A Commercial Driver''''s License (CDL)
  • Knowledge of electrical systems principles, voltage requirements, equipment, installation, and maintenance
  • Ability to interpret specifications, schematics, and written instructions
  • Knowledge of metering principles and practices
  • Experience with installing and maintaining electrical distribution and transmission systems
  • Ability and commitment to execute work in a safe manner

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Exerts 50-100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or 25-50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or 10-20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work. Positions in this class typically require exposure in all weather conditions.
