WHY JOIN THE TEAM
You'll be working in a unique part of Britain for a station with one of the highest percentage listener rates in BBC Local radio, reaching audiences who truly value local journalism. Our reporters work seamlessly across radio, TV, online and socials, giving you the chance to build outstanding multi-platform skills in a supportive environment. A strong understanding of Island life in Guernsey, with a clear sense of the stories and issues that matter most locally.
Proven creativity, with the ability to generate fresh ideas and bring new, engaging treatments to stories across platforms.
Experience in broadcast journalism across TV, radio and digital, with a genuine willingness to learn, develop and master multi-platform storytelling.
A collaborative team player, able to work positively with colleagues and contribute to a supportive, high-performing newsroom.
A solid understanding of the BBC Editorial Guidelines, with a commitment to accurate, impartial and trusted journalism.
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
Experience reading news bulletins, with a strong understanding of what makes a clear, engaging bulletin and the confidence to deliver breaking local and national news.
Some on-air experience, including live reporting on radio and/or television, with the ability to think quickly in a live environment.
Experience of programme production, building effective working relationships with presenters and contributors to help deliver the strongest possible output.
We are a seven day a week operation, and this role may require some weekend working.
If you can bring some of these skills and experience, along with transferable strengths, we'd love to hear from you and encourage you to apply. For an informal chat about these opportunities.
