Harbor is seeking a Job Coach to join the team in Elyria! This role supports employment services through job coaching and vocational support for individuals with disabilities to help ensure successful job placement and retention.

Position is part-time, 30 hours per week.

REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Experience:

  • Two years of teaching/training experience.
  • Two years of working with individuals who have disabilities. 
  • Proficient and accurate in computer use, including Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook.

Licensure and Certifications:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and show proof of personal auto insurance policy to be deemed insurable with Harbor’s vehicle insurance carrier.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification required within 90 days of employment.
  • CPI certification within the first 90 days of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Education, Special Education, or other related Human Service Program including teaching/training experience with individuals who have disabilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions and Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Maintains the quality and completeness of the electronic record.
  2. Completes accurate and timely documentation, including progress notes, ROARs, Monthly Participant Evaluations, Corrective Action Plans, job coaching plans, iWAM alerts, Incident Reports, and related service records.
  3. Prepares documentation in accordance with Harbor standards.
  4. Maintains communication with funding sources and supervisor regarding client progress.
  5. Provides Job Coaching, Job Seeking Skills Training (JSST), and job development services for Job and Family Services and other funded referrals.
  6. Evaluates worksites for appropriateness of participant placement.
  7. Monitors Work Experience Program sites and other worksites to ensure compliance with program requirements.
  8. Analyzes job duties and work environments.
  9. Breaks job tasks into trainable steps.
  10. Evaluates employee-to-job fit.
  11. Assesses client readiness for employment.
  12. Develops appropriate interventions to support employment progress.
  13. Assists clients in identifying interests, skills, and aptitudes to support vocational choice.
  14. May educate clients on the impact of employment on benefits and financial assistance to support informed decision-making.
  15. Provides individual and group job coaching at WEP sites and worksites.
  16. Assists clients in developing employment opportunities and the skills needed to obtain and retain employment.
  17. Conducts home visits and outreach to engage clients in vocational services, as needed.
  18. Consults with supervisor regarding appropriate referrals.
  19. Provides support, education, and consultation to clients, families, and significant others.
  20. Develops employment opportunities in the community.
  21. Conducts community outreach to support client engagement and access to services.
  22. Provides coaching and mentoring to support job retention.
  23. Assists participants in resolving barriers to program participation and employment.
  24. Maintains current knowledge of job-related trends and best practices.
  25. Assists clients and families in building social support skills and networks.
  26. Coordinates evaluations and assessments with internal and external providers.
  27. Monitors services identified in the referral, IEP, BESI, and DSI.
  28. Connects clients with community and vocational resources, including OOD, ODJFS, and BWC.
