Permanent 10 Month Position
Nature of Work
The employee in this position will provide job skill training, job coaching, and job development for students in the Occupational Course of Study (OCS) program. Maintains confidentiality and complies with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, guidelines, and procedures as they relate to the special education program throughout the district.
Qualifications and Licensure
Associates degree or higher from an accredited college or university, or Two years of higher education equivalent to 48 credit hours
Must obtain a valid commercial drivers license with passenger and bus endorsement in the State of North Carolina
Must hold Commercial Drivers License with P and S Endorsement
Employment is dependent upon ability and availability to drive a bus
Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as a collaborative member of the program by providing job skill training, job coaching, and job development for students in the OCS program.
Physical Requirements (if applicable)
Must be physically able to exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Must be physically able to operate a variety of automated office machines, including computers, calculators, printers, copiers, etc. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for periods of time. Work occasionally requires standing, walking, sitting, speaking, or hearing using hands to finger, handle, or feel, reaching with hands and arms, and pushing or pulling. Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under minimal levels of stress and when confronted with persons acting under stress.
Special Requirements (if applicable)
Working knowledge of effective methods of instruction for students. Working knowledge of general classroom activities and routines. Ability to work in a team environment and effectively collaborate with others. Ability to motivate students. Ability to constantly supervise the safety and well-being of students. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to participate in specialized training provided by the school system. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school personnel, students, parents, businesses, community agencies, and the general public. Ability to comply with Wilson County Schools Code of Ethics.
