Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for managing farms in the absence of the farm manager under outlines of the Farm Managers Production Guide.
- Help with movement of turkey flocks to confinement growing.
- Work every other weekend replacing farm manager unless otherwise instructed.
- Assist farm managers in all areas of production as needed.
- Supply reliable transportation to work sites.
- Perform repairs, maintenance on equipment, and construction on projects as assigned by supervisor.
- Assist wash, manure crews and shavings delivery or other areas as required.
- Follow sanitation and isolation procedures using tracking patterns.
- Follow safety policies and procedures as recommended.
- Communicate with supervisor on a regular basis to receive work orders as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- * This position has the possibility of progression to Farm Operator with a Grade 5 pay ***
Minimum Qualifications:
- Basic math skills
- Able to read and write at 4th grade level
- Able to work scheduled weekends and holidays
- Supply reliable transportation for travel to work sites
- Able to meet all sanitation requirements
- Cannot own or raise any type of fowl (i.e. turkeys, chickens, geese, pheasants, parakeets, etc.)
- Able to work in a smoke free environment
- Must be 21 years old and able to obtain a Medical Card
- Must be possess a valid drivers license and able to meet JOTS driving qualifications
- No performance work actions in the last 6 months
- No attendance work actions in the last 6 months
- PHYSICAL:
Work in a dusty environment with ammonia present in all weather conditions while using approved respiratory protection
Facial hair must not compromise respirator face to mask seal - no beards
Twisting, stooping, bend, squat, lift carry and reach while handling turkeys, feed, litter, equipment 10 to 50 pounds from occasionally to a frequent basis
Able to work on uneven surfaces
Able to drive a manual transmission
Preferred Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous animal husbandry experience and/or a farm background (two years)
- Possess a valid drivers license with a good driving record
- Bobcat tractor experience
- Able to use and operate high pressure washer
Response Process:
To be considered for this position you must have completed six (6) months in your present position. Team Members with less than six (6) months may be considered for promotion or transfer based on the needs of the company.
