Position Summary
The Box Machine Operator is responsible to ensure the box machine operates properly across a variety of products. This position uses the software and hardware to make the necessary equipment adjustments during a product changeover. This position maintains the film and carboard loaded into the machine for bags and boxes. The Box Machine Operator makes consistent adjustments to maintain proper operation of the box machine and a smooth supply of boxes to our pack off area.
The night shift is 6:00pm-4:00 am.
Job duties and responsibilities
• Adjust and fill the machine.
• Perform system quality checks and make adjustments.
• Troubleshoot packaging defects.
• Report any maintenance issues.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Quality and Food Safety requirements
• Comply with all USDA, FDA, and ODA regulations
• Understand and perform all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs)
• Report all Food Safety concerns immediately to your Team Leader
• Be aware of all safety guidelines (including but not limited to, Lockout/Tagout (LO/TO), HazCom chemical Handling, Confined Spaces, and proper use of PPE
Minimum Requirements
• Basic Math and Reading Skills necessary
Work Experience
• Prior packaging machinery experience preferred.
• Food manufacturing experience is a plus.
• Experience working in a fast-paced team atmosphere is prefered.
Physical Requirements
• Able to stand for extended periods of time.
• Ability to work in temperatures ranging from subzero to over 100*F for an extended period.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. for an extended period, and 100 lbs. occasionally.
• Ascending and descending ladders, staris, scaffolding, and ramps.
• Subject to extreme cold with temperature typically below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour.
• Hazard including proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high hear or exposure to chemicals.
