We're seeking an experienced Java Backend Engineer with strong Kotlin expertise to develop high-performance, reactive backend services and enterprise APIs. The ideal candidate has extensive experience building scalable Java applications using modern frameworks, microservices architecture, and DevOps best practices. Location: Phoenix, AZ Duration: 12 months Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain backend applications using Java 8+ and Kotlin. Build scalable RESTful APIs and microservices utilizing reactive programming principles. Develop enterprise-grade Java/JEE applications with a focus on performance, reliability, and maintainability. Implement dependency injection, inversion of control (IoC), aspect-oriented programming (AOP), and functional programming techniques. Design and develop data access, transaction management, and batch processing solutions. Collaborate with architects, product owners, QA, and DevOps teams throughout the software development lifecycle. Participate in code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD pipeline implementation, and Agile development activities. Troubleshoot production issues and optimize application performance. Required Skills: 6+ years of hands-on Java development experience using Java 8 or newer. Professional experience developing backend APIs and microservices. Hands-on Kotlin development experience. Strong experience with reactive programming frameworks. Experience with Spring Boot, Spring Framework, and Java/JEE technologies. Solid understanding of REST APIs, dependency injection, IoC, AOP, and functional programming. Experience with JPA, Hibernate, or other enterprise data access frameworks. Knowledge of transaction management and batch processing frameworks. Experience with test-driven development (TDD) and automated testing. Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, Git, and Agile methodologies. Preferred Qualifications: Experience designing highly available, distributed enterprise systems. Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. Experience with containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills. Experience: Minimum 6 years of professional backend software development experience. Proven experience delivering enterprise Java applications in Agile environments. Experience developing scalable, production-ready APIs and distributed applications. Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline. Equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
