Job Description:
Java Architect / Technical Program Manager
The Java Architect / Technical Program Manager will provide technical leadership and delivery oversight for complex enterprise application initiatives. This role is ideal for a hands-on Java Architect, Principal Engineer, or Senior Technical Lead with proven experience leading large-scale software projects and engineering teams.
The successful candidate will combine deep technical expertise in Java-based application development and architecture with strong program management and stakeholder leadership capabilities.
This individual will be responsible for driving architecture decisions, reviewing and guiding software design, managing technical dependencies and risks, and ensuring successful delivery across multiple engineering teams. They will serve as a trusted technical leader capable of engaging directly with developers, architects, product leaders, and executives while maintaining accountability for both technical excellence and project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Java Architecture & Technical Leadership
Project & Program Leadership
Modern Software Engineering
Support adoption of modern development practices including:
Java/Spring Boot development
Microservices architecture
Cloud-native solutions
CI/CD pipelines
Automated testing
Containerization technologies
Partner with DevOps teams to improve deployment automation, monitoring, and operational excellence.
Promote engineering best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
8+ years of software engineering experience with significant focus on Java application development.
Prior experience as a:
Java Architect
Solution Architect
Lead Java Developer
Principal Software Engineer
Technical Lead
Strong hands-on expertise in:
Java
Spring / Spring Boot
REST APIs
Microservices
Distributed systems
Enterprise integrations
Application architecture and design patterns
Experience leading large-scale software development projects and cross-functional engineering teams.
Strong understanding of Agile delivery methodologies and software development lifecycle management.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Ideal Candidate
A hands-on Java Architect who has successfully led large-scale software projects and engineering teams. The individual should be comfortable discussing code, reviewing architecture, challenging technical decisions, managing project execution, and communicating effectively with executives and stakeholders.
Important: Candidates should possess strong Java development and architecture experience. A Java coding assessment will be part of the interview process, and candidates should be capable of demonstrating hands-on technical proficiency in addition to leadership and project management experience.
