    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Janitorial Specialist I is responsible for performing routine and specialized cleaning tasks in manufacturing areas, including production floors, restrooms, break rooms, and offices. Duties include operating cleaning equipment, disposing of waste, ensuring cleanliness and sanitation, monitoring supplies, and conducting facility inspections. The role also involves collaborating with the safety team, assisting in cleaning protocol implementation, participating in training, and supporting deep cleaning projects as needed.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Perform routine and specialized cleaning tasks within manufacturing areas, including production floors, restrooms, break rooms, and offices.
    • Operate and maintain cleaning equipment (e.g., floor scrubbers, vacuum cleaners) according to safety protocols.
    • Dispose of waste and recyclable materials following environmental guidelines and company policies.
    • Ensure all surfaces, tools, and machinery are kept clean and sanitized to meet health and safety regulations.
    • Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies and inventory as needed.
    • Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify cleaning needs and maintenance issues.
    • Collaborate with the safety team to uphold workplace safety standards and address any hazards.
    • Assist in the implementation of cleaning protocols that adhere to industry regulations and company policies.
    • Participate in training sessions related to cleaning procedures, safety protocols, and hazardous materials.
    • Assist in deep cleaning and specialized cleaning projects as needed, including post-maintenance clean-ups and seasonal cleaning tasks.
    • Ability to and willingness to receive and share practical knowledge, train, and mentor teammates within career path to perform necessary job functions and requirements in order to attain satisfactory levels of performance and production effectivity.
    • Adhere, maintain and assist teammates within career path to all departmental compliance requirements such as Safety, Environmental Protection, FOD and Tool Control, 5S and other assigned programs.
    • Other duties as assigned

    Career Path Minimum Position Qualifications

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

    Education and Experience

    High school diploma or equivalent, or successful completion of a verifiable occupational training program; or equivalent combination of education and experience in lieu of high school diploma

    • Ability to operate cleaning equipment and tools effectively and safely
    • Knowledge and skillful use of cleaning chemicals, supplies, tools, and safety practices.
    • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including proper fit and use of respirators as required
    • Ability to understand and follow all safety procedures and Safety Data Sheet requirements
    • Ability to work scheduled shift and hours, including overtime
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision

    o Janitorial Specialist I:

    § Previous experience in a janitorial or custodial role preferred

    o Janitorial Specialist II:

    § Previous experience in an industrial janitorial or custodial role

    § Experience operating and maintaining commercial custodial cleaning equipment

    o Senior Janitorial Specialist:

    § Previous experience in an industrial janitorial or custodial role, with at least 2 years in a team leader position preferred

    § Experience guiding and executing preventive maintenance tasks

    § Experience operating and maintaining commercial custodial equipment

    Physical Demands

    • Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks. Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate job specific equipment. Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Other physical requirements include the ability to bend, kneel, crouch, twist, balance and reach above, out, and below.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Possesses task planning, thinking, reasoning skills and flexibility. Ability to multi-task.     Working Conditions

    • Environmental Demands and Exposure to Hazards:Works primarily inside and may occasionally work outdoors. May be exposed to odors, chemical agents, dust, fumes, gases, sharp objects, hazardous or moving equipment, wet slippery floors, and extremes in temperature and humidity.
    • Interacts regularly with various staff and employees, and occasionally with vendors, suppliers, community members and regulatory agency representatives.
