Description

Basic Function: The Janitorial Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily cleaning operations, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, and supervising janitorial staff. This position requires strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills to maintain a safe and clean environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of janitorial staff.
  • Train, coach, and retrain employees to ensure proper cleaning procedures and safety standards are followed.
  • Inspect work areas to ensure quality and compliance with company expectations.
  • Resolve employee and operational issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment.
  • Ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed.
  • Communicate effectively with management, staff, and clients

Recruitment:

  • Position requires a high school diploma 
  • Previous supervisory experience in janitorial or facilities maintenance.
  • Must have a valid state driver’s license and a good driver’s record. 
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Flexible schedule, including the ability to work some evenings as needed.
  • Must be available to retrain employees, address performance concerns, and solve workplace problems.
  • Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Strong organizational, leadership, and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods materials, equipment, and practices.
  • Ability to instruct custodian’s employees in the performance of manual tasks requiring moderate strength.
  • A thorough knowledge of the operation of all mechanical cleaning equipment.
  • Ability to prepare written reports and other correspondence relation to the job as necessary.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with subordinates as well as other supervisors and management personnel.
  • Ability to partner with clients individually, in family, to help them mobilize resources and their inner capacity to address problems they face.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with other team members, other Agency resources and outside services in addressing client needs.
  • Ability to perform in job recruiting process of recruitment of new hires/candidates.

 

 

Mental/Physical Demands: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruction furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to read and interpret documents such as instructional materials, operation instructions, book, catalogues, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. While performing the duties of this job, the supervisor is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The supervisor frequently is required to sit. The supervisor is occasional required to stand and walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
