Job Description:

Apply for this exciting opportunity to join the team at Highmark Health as a Patient Care Technician I - Acute Rehab. In this role, you will provide direct care to patients and assist with non-direct patient care unit coordination. You will be expected to perform basic nursing procedures related to care and comfort of patients in stable condition, assist the RN in the care of acutely ill patients, and maintain objectivity during patient care.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care and activities such as activities of daily living, skin survey, vital signs, ambulation, specimen collection, intake and output, meal consumption, height and weight, blood glucose testing, and point of care testing
  • Monitor patients and their medical records, and document changes in their physical, mental, and emotional conditions
  • Participate in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives, such as bedside shift report, purposeful hourly rounding, and promoting safety
  • Accurately document vital signs, weights, I&O, restraints, specimen collection, and all other treatments
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required

Qualifications:

  • Minimum: High School Diploma or GED
  • Limited or no experience
  • Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions
  • Basic computer skills
  • CPR - American Heart Association
  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Acute care experience within the last 3 years
  • Currently enrolled in ASN or BSN program
  • Preference given to those enrolled in Associates or Bachelors degree Nursing programs and completed at least one clinical rotation
