General Statement of Duties Forsyth County Management Information Services (MIS) has an opening for a well-qualified candidate for an open IT Team Leader (Cyber Security) position.

IT Team Leader (Cyber Security) is responsible for developing and leading a comprehensive cybersecurity program that protects sensitive public data and critical systems. This includes conducting regular risk assessments, implementing and enforcing security policies and standards, monitoring networks for threats, and coordinating incident response and disaster recovery efforts to ensure continuity of essential services.

The role also involves ensuring compliance with applicable state and federal regulations, managing security tools and vendors, and collaborating with IT staff and department leaders to address vulnerabilities across systems such as public safety, utilities, and administrative services.

In addition, the Cybersecurity Manager provides ongoing employee training and awareness programs to reduce risks like phishing and human error, while staying informed about evolving threats to proactively strengthen the organizations overall security posture.

  • Thorough understanding of hardware, software, applications and systems.

  • Project management skills, including strong organizational skills and proven ability to complete complex projects and tasks with attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of budgets and contracts pertaining to area of responsibility.
  • Ensure compliance with evolving state and federal cybersecurity regulations.
  • Work in an environment where governance, risk, and compliance are mission-critical.
  • Ability to manage a team.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Information Technology or related field, plus four years experience in either system administration or software application development in the area of Cybersecurity.
  • Project Management experience preferred.
  • Drivers license is required.

This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justices Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent criminal background check.

  • Lead and shape a county-wide cybersecurity program.
  • Leads multifunctional teams to attain technological solutions.
  • Trains and mentor team to build knowledge and skills in specific areas of expertise.
  • Assigns tasks to team members and monitors performance.
  • Manages teams and resources to design, integrate and implement advanced computing solutions.
  • Works with various levels of management to shape and carry out strategic plans.
  • Responsible for project planning, design and successful implementation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
