Classification Purpose: The primary purpose of the IT Services Supervisor classification is to manage and supervise a team of IT professionals and clerical staff whose primary duties involve writing, analyzing and designing computer programs/systems for the mainframe computer or open systems.

Job Duties: Responsible for ensuring overall IT performance and system availability across the agency. Develop and maintain support documentation. Create, update, and execute disaster and security plans in alignment with internal, county, and state data protection requirements. Oversee the use of outsourced resources, including external contractors and county/state personnel, for project planning, troubleshooting, and repairs. Assist in the development and monitoring of IT policies, procedures, and budgets. Participate in IT projects by assessing networking needs, implementing solutions, and ensuring adherence to network and security policies and procedures.

Serve as the IT liaison with county and state personnel, agency partners, private contractors, and internal IT staff to support effective system development and implementation. Communicate relevant information and foster productive working relationships. Participate in a variety of internal and external meetings, including regular staff meetings.

Maintain and track employees' completion of training. Troubleshoot, investigate, and correct various desktop problems within the network. Provide technical assistance to agency employees by answering questions and responding to internal questions or problems. Maintain inventory of agency equipment.

Maintain files and records, and supervise staff responsible for preparing and scanning all incoming mail and documents. Perform quality control on imaged documents, ensure productivity standards, make necessary corrections, and provide training as needed. Coordinate in-house document storage and destruction in accordance with the agency's Records Retention Schedule. Prepare and update written guidelines for staff. Ensure compliance with Federal Tax Information confidentiality requirements, including maintaining the tracking log. Oversee incoming and outgoing correspondence, including regular mail and interoffice mail. Provide work directions to regulate workflow and ensure departmental compliance. Maintain mail logs and related data records.

Compile statistical reports as requested by the supervisor or director. Perform safety officer duties when required. Supervise assigned staff by monitoring performance and attendance, addressing concerns, and recommending disciplinary action when necessary. Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

Major Worker Characteristics: Knowledge of inventory control; employee training and development; agency policies and procedures. Skill in word processing; equipment operation. Ability to apply principles to solve practical, everyday problems; understand practical field of study; define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers; calculate fractions, decimals and percentages; use algebra; geometry and trigonometry; understand manuals and verbal instructions, technical in nature; prepare meaningful concise and accurate reports; gather, collate and classify information about data, people or things; work alone on most tasks; handle sensitive inquiries from and contacts with officials and general public.

Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment: Any equivalent combination of relevant training and experience including but not limited to: Completion of undergraduate core coursework in computer science or 36 months experience in software installation, maintenance for mainframe operating systems.

Additional Requirements: 24 months supervisory experience that includes employee training and development is required. Must meet background check requirements.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Ability to assign, review, plan, provide instructions and coordinate the work of other employees; to maintain department standards, to recommend discipline or discharge; to act on employee issues; to recommend and approve the transfer, promotion, or salary increase of assigned staff.
