Position Specific Description

Our Enterprise Architecture practice is evolving with the benefits of Generative AI. While all the traditional skills and qualifications associated with an experienced Enterprise Architect are expected, it is critical that the candidate can produce artifacts, and align frameworks for AI ingestion and dissemination (as well as human). This strategic leadership position will act as the key driver for developing and implementing enterprise-wide architecture strategies and solutions that align with the business goals of NextEra Energy. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of technology, business architecture, and organizational considerations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, review, and implementation of enterprise architecture (EA) standards, guidelines, and principles.
  • Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to define the strategic roadmap for enterprise architecture and ensure it supports business objectives.
  • Oversee the creation of architecture blueprints and models that guide the design, implementation, and integration of IT systems.
  • Ensure all architectural solutions and technology investments are aligned with NextEra Energys business goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with a team of architects and provide mentorship, guidance, and support to foster professional growth and development.
  • Conduct regular assessments of existing IT systems and recommend modernization and optimization approaches.
  • Engage with executives and senior management to communicate EA vision, strategy, and value proposition.
  • Establish and maintain policies and governance frameworks to manage EA-related activities within the organization.
  • Evaluate and select emerging technologies that support business innovation and transformation initiatives.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with IT architecture and infrastructure projects.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in enterprise architecture, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of successfully implementing enterprise-wide architecture strategies and managing complex IT projects.
  • Deep understanding of integrated IT environments and cloud architectures, as well as modern software development and deployment practices.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage change and drive transformation within a large organization.
  • Strong knowledge of business architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman, or a similar methodology, with a keen eye on balancing rigor and delivery
  • Professional certifications in enterprise architecture preferred.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working within the energy or utility industry is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with sustainability and clean energy initiatives.
  • Hands-on experience with architectural tools and frameworks such as ArchiMate, UML, etc.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements related to IT architecture in the energy sector.

Job Overview

Individuals facilitate and orchestrate the delivery of targeted business outcomes through technical decisions. Leaders in this job serve as top-level experts and visionaries in the development of roadmaps, strategy, and design for assigned technology areas.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Works with business partners to analyze strategy and trends to define the requirements, principles, and models that guide technology decisions
  • Communicates and enforces technology standards with business partners
  • Understands industry trends and the practical application of existing, new, and emerging technologies
  • Drives digital innovation and develops roadmaps through new technologies and approaches to fulfill strategic business plans
  • Defines high-level migration plans to address gaps in current state
  • Coaches, mentors, and leads technical subject matters experts to enable and drive consistency across technology architectures
  • Designs and owns governance, assurance and standards activities for enterprise technology architecture compliance
  • Oversees and facilitates the evaluation, risk assessment, selection, and design of hardware and software technology and product standards
  • Delivers technology architecture artifacts, possibly including reference architectures or concepts of operation
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
