LHH is seeking a hands-on IT Manager to lead the daily operations, security, support, and strategic direction of the firm's technology environment. This role serves as the primary internal technology leader and key liaison between firm leadership, attorneys, staff, managed service providers (MSPs), and external vendors.
This is not a high-level IT leadership role removed from day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with vendor management, project leadership, and a willingness to remain involved in hands-on support when needed. The IT Manager will oversee a Technology Specialist, manage MSP relationships, and play a critical role in upcoming technology modernization initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
IT Operations & User Support
Oversee daily IT operations, user support, issue escalation, equipment readiness, conference room technology, remote access, mobile devices, and general troubleshooting.
Provide backup support when necessary and assist directly with attorney, partner, and staff technology issues.
Monitor ticket resolution, recurring issues, service quality, and vendor responsiveness.
Maintain onboarding, offboarding, user access, equipment deployment, and asset management processes.
Deliver technical training and onboarding for employees.
Microsoft 365 & Systems Administration
Administer Microsoft 365 environments including:
Exchange Online
Microsoft Teams
SharePoint Online
OneDrive
Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD)
MFA and identity management
User permissions and access controls
Manage endpoint security and device administration through Intune or similar MDM platforms.
Support Windows endpoint administration, patch management, BitLocker, endpoint protection, and secure device configuration.
Infrastructure & Security
Coordinate cybersecurity initiatives, vulnerability remediation, email security, endpoint protection, phishing awareness, MFA enforcement, and secure remote access.
Oversee backup, disaster recovery, business continuity, and security readiness activities.
Maintain working knowledge of networking fundamentals including firewalls, switches, Wi-Fi, VPN, DNS/DHCP, internet connectivity, and cloud services.
Partner with MSPs and vendors to resolve infrastructure, network, application, and security issues.
Vendor & Project Management
Manage MSP relationships, service levels, contracts, renewals, escalations, and technology vendor performance.
Lead technology projects including:
Microsoft 365 improvements
Security enhancements
Hardware refresh initiatives
Application rollouts
Workflow automation efforts
Drive stakeholder discussions and technology decision-making processes.
Provide regular project, support, vendor, and security updates to leadership.
Upcoming Strategic Projects
One of the primary initiatives for this role will be helping the firm evaluate and implement a modern practice management platform that better integrates timekeeping, billing, accounting, CRM functionality, and document management workflows. The successful candidate will help gather stakeholder requirements, evaluate solutions, manage vendors, and drive successful implementation efforts.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Technology, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
5+ years of progressive IT experience.
Experience leading or coordinating technical staff, MSPs, outsourced support teams, or vendors.
Strong Microsoft 365 administration experience.
Experience with Intune, MDM platforms, and endpoint management.
Strong Windows administration and endpoint security experience.
Working knowledge of networking and infrastructure concepts.
Experience with cybersecurity controls, incident response, backup, and disaster recovery.
Strong project management, troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
General awareness of AI tools and responsible AI usage.
Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends when required.
Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working within a law firm or professional services organization.
Experience supporting legal applications, practice management platforms, document management systems, time and billing software, or eDiscovery tools.
Experience managing MSP relationships and technology vendors.
Familiarity with legal industry confidentiality and records management requirements.
Experience creating IT policies, onboarding/offboarding procedures, and training programs.
Familiarity with Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, AI governance practices, or workflow automation technologies.
