The IT Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for maintaining and advancing GAI Consultants’ enterprise IT infrastructure, including cloud-integrated file services, enterprise storage platforms, network infrastructure, and core systems. This role ensures high availability, performance, and scalability of systems supporting business operations across geographically distributed offices. The position plays a key role in supporting technologies such as Azure NAAS and storage, Nasuni cloud file services, Aruba network infrastructure, and enterprise storage solutions. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Configure, deploy, maintain, and support critical infrastructure components including:
  • Strong knowledge of administering, deploying, and troubleshooting traditional and IAAS network systems including Azure v-nets, Azure VNG, IPsec tunnels, routing and subnetting, vLAN’s, DNS, application and stateful firewalls, Azure Load Balancers, and WiFi.
  • Experience using Terraform or another infrastructure as code
    • Cloud file platforms and storage architecture.
    • Wired and wireless networking solutions (switching, WLAN, Aruba Central).
    • Cloud\Azure backup solution.
    • Enterprise storage systems and virtualization platforms.
    • Server infrastructure (on-prem and hybrid environments).
    • Microsoft services such as AD, DFS, DHCP and DNS.
  • Monitor system health, availability, and performance across storage, network, and computer environments; proactively identify and resolve issues.
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues involving storage performance, network connectivity, and system integration.
  • Lead efforts in capacity planning, performance tuning, and scalability improvements across distributed systems.
  • Support and enhance hybrid cloud integrations, particularly with file services and backup/recovery platforms.
  • Develop, document, and maintain disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity (BC) strategies, including testing and validation of recovery procedures.
  • Participate in infrastructure projects including upgrades, migrations, and new technology implementations.
  • Enforce and support change management processes, ensuring compliance with organizational standards and best practices.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation for infrastructure, configurations, and procedures.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to junior engineers and support staff.

Experience and Education 

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience with:
    • Nasuni or similar cloud-based file storage platforms
    • Aruba networking (switches, wireless, network management tools) or similar technologies
    • Enterprise storage technologies (e.g., SAN/NAS, hybrid/cloud-integrated storage)
    • Windows Server environments and virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V)
  • Experience working in multi-site enterprise environments preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and handle complex technical issues.

General Characteristics

  • Begins to maintain the organization's IT infrastructure, which may include hardware, software, servers, storage solutions, networks, communications, or physical facilities.
  • Begins to assist maintaining disaster recovery plans and coordinates the planning and execution of disaster recovery drills.
  • Demonstrates foundational proficiency in the areas of installation and integration, change management, testing and quality assurance, problem solving and decision making, documentation and measurement, policy and compliance, communication and interpersonal effectiveness, and teamwork and collaboration
  • Begins to demonstrate capable proficiency in troubleshooting and support

Minimum Years of Experience

  • 10+ Years of Experience

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or information technology or management information systems or related field

Certification/Licensure

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals
  • CompTIA Network+
  • CompTIA Cloud+
  • CompTIA Server+
  • Driver’s License required

Technical Responsibilities

  • Configures, installs, maintains, and provides support for critical software, hardware, and communications components.
  • Monitors system availability and troubleshoots and resolves connectivity interruptions.
  • Measures and improves performance and scalability.
  • Helps develop disaster recovery or business continuity plans.

Project and Task Management

  • Oversees project tasks, deliverables, processes.
  • Plans, schedules, and coordinates the preparation of documents or activities for multiple projects.
  • Analyzes project management plans for complex projects.
  • Understands project delivery uncertainties and uses risk management principles to address them.
  • Reviews operational procedures to Monitor compliance with applicable policies and performance measures.

Management Responsibility

  • Receives administrative supervision with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.
  • Manages entry- and mid-level IT staff.
  • Integrates professional attitudes relevant to the practice of Human Resources and fosters creativity, curiosity, flexibility, and dependability in staff.

Communication Skills

  • Applies principles of formal strategic and persuasive communications.
  • Represents their area of specialty within the organization and liaises with related individuals and organizations.
  • Routinely interacts with organizational leaders, clients, officials, contractors, and others.
  • Integrates concepts of effective teamwork and leadership.
