The Information Technology Division (ITD) exists to leverage technology to enhance and sustain business processes, public safety infrastructure, and statewide emergency communications to facilitate the accomplishment of all agency goals. 

Duties

The Infrastructure Operations (IO) is a highly specialized technical section within the Information Technology Division that supports the WSP enterprise computing infrastructure by providing agency wide, in-depth technical system administration and support for all enterprise server hardware and associated software infrastructure, core enterprise applications, vital business applications and web servers, file and print servers, and all WSP data and databases to include processing, backups, etc.


Our new teammate will be able to:

  • Act as a agency subject matter expert for data analytics using Power BI, SQL, and SQL Reporting Services (SSRS) and provide report building expertise, deployment and guidance to agency data research analysts and other personnel to enable data analysis and visualization of data. 
  • Create SQL data models and views from agency relational databases to provide business operations to perform data analytics and visualization. 
  • Use business requirements to design, normalize, develop, install, and implement agency relational databases and data warehouses. 
  • Execute SQL commands to maintain and support databases. 
  • Create, configure, and manage all assigned Power BI technical infrastructure environments, sites, and related application services regarding databases. 
  • Oversee, monitor and maintain all database security, permissions, and connections based on the ITD security policy and best security practices and guidelines. 
  • Design or select, test and implement system reliability while adhering to structured server best practices (ITIL/MOF-based) change management principles. 
  • Proactively monitor, maintain, enhance, upgrade, patch, troubleshoot and repair the agency's DevOps environment. 
  • Design or select, test, and implement pipelines for automating extract, transform, and load (ETL) processes and other data manipulation processes. 
  • Assist with technical components of ensuring the agency's GIT environment is functioning optimally. 
  • Proactively monitor, maintain, enhance, upgrade, patch, troubleshoot and repair server environments including hardware operating system, network, security, support software, applications, and related vendor software and tools, and builds or re-configures systems to meet new requirements. 
  • Utilize expert knowledge and system administration skills to ensure 99.9% uptime of vital WSP systems and applications. 
  • Make emergency notifications to other system administrators when appropriate. 
  • Set up alerts and enforce policies. 
  • Consult with other enterprise system administrators to enhance performance monitoring of other systems. 
  • Design and maintain specialized dashboards to enhance visibility into performance. 
  • Report to management and staff to provide information for better operational decisions. 
  • Coordinate with hardware and software vendors to assure operational standards. 
  • As needed, patch the PowerBI report environment. 
  • Perform research and evaluation of new enterprise technologies, processes, and upgrades to various database systems and infrastructure.

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Associates or higher or military/DoD occupational/specialty school completion in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field of IT engineering. 
  • Work experience may be substituted year-for-year 
  • 5 years of work experience in the data management industry using industry standards for SQL (T-SQL preferred) Database Operations, Structure and Maintenance.
