Job Summary

The IT Business Systems Analyst serves as a strategic partner between business stakeholders and Information Technology, ensuring technology solutions align with organizational goals and operational needs. This role is responsible for analyzing business processes, gathering and documenting requirements, supporting enterprise applications, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and helping deliver technology solutions that create measurable business value.

Working closely with teams across Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Asset Management, Sales, and Corporate Functions, the Business Systems Analyst identifies opportunities to enhance business processes, improve reporting and data visibility, increase system adoption, and support enterprise technology initiatives. This position plays a critical role in optimizing Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O) and other enterprise business systems across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Business Process Analysis & Requirements Management (35%)

  • Lead business discovery sessions, stakeholder interviews, and process workshops to understand business needs and objectives.
  • Document current-state and future-state business processes and workflows.
  • Elicit, analyze, prioritize, and document business and system requirements.
  • Create business requirements documents (BRDs), functional specifications, user stories, process maps, and acceptance criteria.
  • Perform gap analyses to identify differences between business requirements and system functionality.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and operational efficiency improvements.
  • Develop solution recommendations and business cases in partnership with key stakeholders.
  • Maintain requirements traceability throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Effectively communicate business and technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Enterprise Applications & Business Systems Support (25%)

  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for enterprise business applications, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations.
  • Support the configuration, testing, deployment, enhancement, and optimization of business systems.
  • Investigate system issues and coordinate resolution efforts with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Evaluate enhancement requests and recommend scalable, sustainable solutions.
  • Support integrations between enterprise systems and applications.
  • Assist with security role administration, workflow design, and governance activities.
  • Maintain process, system, and application documentation.
  • Participate in release planning, testing, and deployment activities.

Reporting, Data & Analytics (15%)

  • Partner with stakeholders to define reporting, dashboard, and analytics requirements.
  • Develop functional requirements for KPIs, reports, and business intelligence solutions.
  • Support Power BI and enterprise reporting initiatives.
  • Participate in data governance, master data management, and data quality improvement efforts.
  • Validate reporting outputs to ensure alignment with business requirements.
  • Provide analytical insights that support data-driven decision-making.
  • Collaborate with reporting and data teams to improve operational visibility and performance.

Testing, Change Management & User Adoption (15%)

  • Develop test strategies, test plans, test scripts, and acceptance criteria.
  • Coordinate and facilitate User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Track, manage, and support defect resolution activities.
  • Support deployments, hypercare activities, and post-implementation support.
  • Create training materials, user guides, and supporting documentation.
