JOB SUMMARY The IT Analyst supports and maintains the Citys information technology infrastructure, applications, and support services. This position provides Tier 2/3 technical support, assists with systems administration, evaluates and improves business technology processes, and supports implemen tation of new software and infrastructure solutions. The position works closely with departments, vendors, and leadership to ensure systems are secure, reliable, and efficient MAJOR DUTIES • Evaluate current business processes and IT systems to identify areas for improvement in service delivery through IT solutions. • Provide Tier 2/3 technical support for hardware, software, and network connectivity issues • Lead or assist in the rollout of new software applications, system upgrades, and migrations . • Maintain s and supports workstation, server, and network hardware and related systems. • Create and maintain technical manuals, system configurations, and user guides for internal staff • Coordinate with external vendors for hardware procurement and software licensing • Remains informed of changing industry standards and best practices. • Performs related duties. KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION • Proficiency in Windows/Linux server environments • SQL server management Information Technology Analyst Information T echnology Page 2 • Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, WI -FI, encrypted radio communications, firewall s • Skill in troubleshooting and problem solving. • Skill in prioritizing and planning. • Strong ability to translate technical concepts into clear information for non -technical users. • Excellent communication, a patient help -desk demeanor, and high -level adaptability. SUPERVISORY CONTROLS The Information Technology Manager assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results. GUIDELINES Guidelines include department and city policies and procedures . These guidelines are generally clear and specific but may require some interpretation in application. COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK • The work consists of related technical duties. Frequent changes to industry standards contribute to the complexity of the position . • The purpose of this position is to perform technical duties in support of the citys information technology functions . Successful per formance helps ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of city operations. • Occasional after -hours or emergency support will be required. CONTACTS • Contacts are typically with coworkers, vendors , contractors, and the general public. • Contacts are typically to exchange information, resolve problems, and provide services. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT • The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. The employee occasionally lif ts light and heavy objects and distinguishes between shades of color. • The work is typically performed in an office . SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY None. Information Technology Analyst Information T echnology Page 3 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with an Associate s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent combination of education, certifications, training, and experience. • Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in information technology support, syst ems administration, or related work preferred. • Must be able to pass a background check to be able to have access to the CJIS system at the Police Department which includes fingerprinting. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE • Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, or ITIL. • Experience with ERP, GIS server management, Tyler Technology systems, Motorola Flex, Google Workspace Administration, • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks and threat mitigation, CrowdStrike, Huntress, Ninja one, SIEM, NDR, Informati on Security policies The City of Sheridan is an at -will employer.
