SUMTER COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEM

TITLE: In-School Suspension Supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of an Associate's Degree or the equivalent in course hours and a minimum of 2 years experience.
  • To create a flexible instructional program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth.
  • Experience creating a written report for any incident to establish effective rapport with students assigned to the classroom.
  • To motivate pupils to develop attitudes.

REPORTS TO: Principal

SUPERVISES: N/A

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Effectively utilizes district technologies appropriate to the position and assumes responsibility for attending district training needed to successfully perform designated responsibilities as directed by supervisor.
  • Maintain regular attendance.
  • Maintain confidentiality, unquestionable integrity.
  • Comply with State Law and District's policies and regulations.
  • Maintain a safe environment for students, conducive to learning.
  • Teach district approved curriculum.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional material and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
  • Translate lessons into developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
  • Models lessons for students.
  • Use effective Classroom Management techniques.
  • Establish, share, and maintain standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
  • Anticipate and effectively address unforeseen crises associated with working with large groups of children.
  • Keep appropriate records and files of completed assignments.
  • Assist the administration in the compiling of teacher assignments for students assigned to in-school suspension.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine months (187). Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
