ABOUT NOOKS

Nooks is pioneering Classified-Infrastructure-as-a-Service (CIaaS) — designing, building, and operating Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs) and other secured, classified environments for the defense and national security community. We work with the agencies, contractors, and mission-driven organizations that keep the nation safe, delivering the physical infrastructure that makes classified work possible. We’re growing fast, operating across multiple markets, and building a company that takes both the mission and the business seriously.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are seeking an Information Security (INFOSEC) IT Generalist to support the U.S. Space Force’s Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) network as part of our Integrated Security Enterprise (ISE) program.

This role helps to ensure that all IT operations comply with the physical, technical, and personnel security standards mandated by DoDM 5105.21-V1 and related Intelligence Community Directives (ICDs).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Systems Compliance:
  • Implement and maintain security controls for SCI systems in accordance with DoDM 5105.21 and ICD 503/RMF standards.
  1. Incident Response:
  • Lead the identification, reporting, and mitigation of security violations or "spillages" (Data Transfers) between classification levels.
  1. SCIF Operations:
  • Monitor and manage IT infrastructure within Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs), ensuring TEMPEST integrity and physical security of hardware.
  1. Access Management:
  • Administer Identity and Access Management (IdAM) for SCI-level networks, ensuring the principle of "need-to-know" is strictly enforced.
  1. Audit & Continuous Monitoring:
  • Conduct weekly system audits, vulnerability scans, and continuous monitoring to maintain the Authorization to Operate (ATO).
  1. Policy Development:
  • Draft and update System Security Plans (SSP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for SCI-cleared personnel.

THE SKILLSET:

  • Experience: 1-3 years in IT security, with at least 1 year specifically managing SCI or SAP-level systems.
  • Technical Depth: Must meet DoD 8140/8570.01-M requirements (typically IAT Level II or III, e.g., Security+, or CISM).
  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of DoDM 5105.21-V1, ICD 705 (SCIF construction), and NIST SP 800-53.
  • Clearance: Must possess and maintain either an Interim Secret or Secret eligibility security clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required. Candidates must be capable of maintaining eligibility up to the Secret level within 45 days of hire.
  • This position supports mission operations and may require occasional travel to government facilities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certification: Security+, A+, Network +, or other DoD 8140 baseline certifications.
  • Experience working with DoD SCI/SAP networks, i.e. AFSCI/COE JWICS, etc.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.

This position requires the ability to travel to USSF and partner facilities, work in Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs), and involves physical requirements such as climbing stairs/ladders or working in confined spaces to complete facility inspections and assessments.

This employment offer is contingent upon continued funding of the underlying government contract. Should the contract be modified, or terminated, or if funding is reduced or eliminated, the employer reserves the right to adjust or rescind the offer accordingly.
