Irrigation Technician

Location: National Frozen Foods Corporation – Chehalis, WA  

May work at multiple Chehalis field and plant locations

Position Description: Starts seasonal with potential for post season employment. Responsible for the tending and upkeep of the irrigation site, along with equipment maintenance and grounds keeping.

Starting Pay: $21.35 - $26.30 per hour depending on experience

Schedule: During the harvest season – availability required for varying shifts, overtime (as requested), some holidays and weekends. Starts seasonal with potential for post season employment.

Specific Job Tasks: Including, but not limited to:

• Willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Drive tractor to move water guns and hoses
• Load and unload irrigation pipe
• Drive tractors to mow fields, brush hogging
• Work with minimal supervision
• Run weed eater and fix fences
• Maintain daily logs

Skills and Qualifications

• Possess a current valid Washington state driver’s license
• An ability to work independently and in group settings
• Possess a very strong attendance and personnel record
• Strong attention to detail and time management skills
• Ability to multitask as well as manage changing priorities

Physical Requirements

• Strength- Lift 100 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
• Stand/Walk- Stand and walk a maximum of 3 hours prior to each break period.
• Climb/Balance- Ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding and the like using the feel and legs and/or hands and arms. Maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on a narrow or slippery surface.
• Reach- Extend both hands and arms in any direction.
• Handle- Seize, hold, grasp, turn or otherwise work with the hands.
• See- Obtain impressions through the eyes of the shape, size, distance, motion, color, or other characteristic of objects.
• Twist and Turn- Able to twist/turn trunk of body from side to side.
• Stoop- Bend the body downward and forward by bending the spine at the waist.
• Kneel- Bend the legs at the knees to come to rest on the knee or knees.
• Crouch- Bend the body downward and forward bending the spine and legs.
