This is unskilled and limited semi-skilled manual work at the City's Marina, performing cleaning, minor repairs, litter pickup, and other related tasks at marina buildings and facilities. This position requires a flexible schedule as work may be carried on during the day but at times may include nights, weekends, and holidays, sometimes under unfavorable weather conditions. Work includes driving a motorized vehicle and using standard hand tools and power equipment.

Salary: $17.13 - $22.55 Hourly

To Qualify

Minimum Qualifications. Applicants must:

  • Possess and continue to maintain a valid driver license.
  • Be able to plan and organize routine work details.
  • Be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Be able to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time, sometimes under unfavorable weather conditions.

Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants:

  • Possess a valid high school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Have considerable experience performing building and property maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Have some knowledge of cleaning materials, methods, equipment, and procedures.
  • Have experience performing maintenance duties in a Marina.

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT

The successful candidate must be either a resident of the City of St. Petersburg as of his or her date of employment, or establish primary residency within the city limits of St. Petersburg within six months of completing the probationary period. Furthermore, as long as the successful candidate is employed in this classification, he or she must reside within the city limits of St. Petersburg. This requirement is not applicable to current City employees who were hired before October 20, 1997.
