JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is crucial for maintaining plant health and ensuring quality products are provided to our customers. The IPM Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all aspects of pest management and biosecurity within the facility. This includes working under the Director of Plant Health's guidance to develop and implement management strategies, monitoring pest populations, evaluating the effectiveness of control measures, and ensuring compliance with state regulations. This position will lead all chemical applications and IPM tasks as well as guide and train any employees tasked to help with those tasks.

- Implement a range of pest control measures including biological, cultural, mechanical, and chemical methods.
- Directly oversee and apply all pesticide applications and supplemental applications
- Evaluate the efficacy of pest control strategies and make improvements or changes as needed.
- Monitor pest populations using a variety of methods such as trapping, scouting, and sampling.
- Identify abiotic and biotic disorders, assessing their potential impact on plant health and production. Collect and analyze data on pest populations, disease trends, control measures, and outcomes.
- Prepare regular reports and presentations on pest management activities, trends, and results for staff and regulatory purposes.
- Ensure that pest control practices are carried out safely and in compliance with state regulatory requirements as well as regular GMP (good manufacturing processes) are followed.
- Collaborate with other departments to implement biosecurity, quality control standards, and to improve plant health.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on IPM principles, techniques, and best practices.
- Ensure pesticide application records are maintained and accurate for state compliance checks.
- Assist with other department's tasks as needed.
Required
- 3-5 years' experience in crop production with an emphasis on IPM.
- Strong knowledge of pest biology, identification, and control methods.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with various departments.
- Leadership abilities to manage a team and supervise pest control activities effectively.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with spreadsheets and other data collection.
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in agriculture, plant science, entomology, environmental science, or related field.
- Ohio private pesticide applicators license.
Work Environment
CULTIVATION- This job operates in an agricultural greenhouse environment, with some time spent in an office environment. Conditions in the greenhouse can be bright and of varying temperature and humidity. Potential exposure to allergens, irritants (chemical and organic), and loud noises while operating spray equipment.

The employee frequently is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift products and supplies, up to 35 pounds. This position requires the ability to withstand higher temperatures 75 – 95 degrees and elevated humidity levels. This position requires working under intense, bright lights with sunglasses provided for eye protection. This position requires the passing of a respirator fit test and the ability to wear a full-face respirator when chemical safety labels require one.
