SLB is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive IP Paralegal to join our United States Patent Filing and Prosecution Team. In this role, you will support the preparation, filing, and prosecution of U.S. patent applications, working closely with attorneys and cross-functional teams to ensure timely and accurate handling of patent matters. You will play a key role in maintaining compliance with USPTO requirements and managing critical deadlines across the patent lifecycle.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to the effectiveness of our intellectual property operations while developing expertise in U.S. patent prosecution and portfolio management.


Roles and Responsibilities


+ Prepare and file patent prosecution documents, including U.S. patent applications, Information Disclosure Statements, and responses to Office Actions

+ Support post-filing activities such as issue fee payments and patent grant processing

+ Ensure compliance with USPTO rules, regulations, and MPEP guidelines

+ Manage the docketing of deadlines, fees, and formalities to maintain timely prosecution activities

+ Coordinate with outside counsel regarding filings, correspondence, and prosecution updates

+ Maintain accurate records in docketing and document management systems, and support data integrity initiatives

+ Organize workflows and proactively follow up on patent-related activities to ensure efficiency

+ Uphold confidentiality and adhere to company policies and operational standards


Qualifications and Experience


+ Some university coursework is preferred

+ A minimum of 3+ years of experience in U.S. patent prosecution is required

+ Hands-on experience with the USPTO Patent Center is required

+ Familiarity with IP docketing systems is preferred

+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office and PDF editing tools

+ Experience with international patent prosecution is considered an asset

+ Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple deadlines

+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively

+ Candidates must be able to legally work and reside in the US without sponsorship
