Job Description

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

• As needed, conduct intake of informal and formal complaints of discrimination, harassment, and/or retaliation. Recommends resources and supportive and/or interim measures when necessary.
• Conducts fact-based investigations from inception to completion. This includes initiating contact with all parties, scheduling meetings and interviews, reviewing complaints for options, creating an investigation plan, conducting and documenting interviews, assessing credibility, collecting and evaluating evidence, and writing investigative reports for disposition by decision makers.
• Partners effectively with university partners including Human Resources, Dean of Students, Internal Audit and other academic personnel to appropriately address matters brought to the OIEC office.
• Collaborates with internal colleagues and senior leadership on highly sensitive and/or complex investigations to ensure prompt and thorough resolution.
• Prepares and submits external agency responses such as OCR, EEOC, and FCHR.
• Keeps and maintains detailed and accurate notes and investigation files and ensures proper handling and storage of evidence, training, and post disposition communication in accordance with applicable record retention guidelines. Remains organized with a high volume of cases to complete investigations in a timely manner.
• Facilitates pregnancy related accommodations under applicable federal and state laws.
• Receives, reviews and analyzes ADA accommodation appeals. Issues final decisions on behalf of the university.
• Assists with writing and compiling state and federal required reports. Tracks and analyzes statistical data for the office and provides reports to the designated Chief Compliance Officer.
• Makes recommendations to senior leaders about discrimination, harassment, and Title IX related issues. Assists with the identification and development of programs or initiatives to address trends or concerns on-campus.
• Maintains a regular presence in the University community to raise awareness of the office and Title IX, including contacting campus partners to set up collaborative events/trainings. Facilitates training and programs on discrimination, harassment, and Title IX related issues to students, faculty, staff, and the campus community.

Other Duties

• Serves on various committees and assists with maintaining the office website and social media accounts as assigned by the designated Chief Compliance Officer.
• Serves as a Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• This position requires either eight years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Public Administration, Student Affairs, Higher Education, Business Administration, Psychology, Political Science, Legal Studies, Human Resources, or other closely related field and four years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
• Professional full-time experience in legal, regulatory, student conduct, federal/state compliance, human resources, EEO/ADA discrimination, Title IX compliance, or other related experience.
• Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook) and video conferencing software (Zoom, teams, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

• JD or Master's degree from an accredited institution in Public Administration, Business Administration, Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, Legal Studies, or Human Resources.
• Experience as an EEO Investigator, Title IX Investigator, Compliance Counsel, or other similar experience.
• Experience conducting protected category discrimination and sexual harassment investigations (including sexual assault investigations) in a higher education setting.

Pay Grade: 19 - Salary
