Investigations Support Supervisor

About the Agency: The Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses (DOPL) provides consumer protection and public safety through its regulation of more than 250,000 licensees within more than 44 Boards and Commissions here in the great State of Idaho.

This Investigations Support Supervisor position is a great opportunity for a professional who is looking to provide consumer protection and public safety for all Idahoans. This position will oversee the investigation support specialists to the investigative team, and the staff responsible for the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP). You will set priorities, develop staff, establish procedures, and oversee the day-to-day operations.

Example of Duties:

Lead and develop the team

  • Plan, assign, and prioritize the work of the investigations support and PDMP staff.
  • Set clear performance expectations; conduct performance appraisals, provide regular coaching and feedback, and address performance and conduct matters.
  • Provide onboarding, training, and professional development tailored to the unique demands of investigative support and the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program.
  • Manage workload across the team to ensure equitable distribution of tasks and timely response to urgent matters.
  • Personally perform the full range of investigations support and PDMP tasks as needed - to train staff, balance workload during peak periods, or resolve complex or sensitive matters.

Ensure quality and consistency

  • Review work products and processes - case files, correspondence, data entry, and reports - to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance, and coach staff to improve quality.
  • Develop, document, and implement standard operating procedures.
  • Serve as a liaison between support staff and investigative leadership, ensuring administrative functions support the Division's strategic goals.

Oversee investigations support

  • Direct the team responsible for complaint and referral intake and triage, preliminary research and data collection, case-file and database maintenance, disciplinary-action compliance, and contested-case support - ensuring confidentiality and legal standards are met throughout.

Direct the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP)

  • Oversee the staff and operations of the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program.
  • Manage vendor relationships and monitor contract compliance.
  • Establish PDMP program goals and develop standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain working familiarity with the Uniform Controlled Substances Act and controlled substance prescribing practices relevant to PDMP operations.
  • Deliver presentations and training to internal and external stakeholders and facilitate technical support.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Some knowledge of management practices.

Experience:

  • Developing procedures and/or monitoring a budget
  • Supervising staff
  • Providing liaison with customer/provider groups
  • Interpreting federal or state regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Making oral presentations before boards or professional groups.
  • Compiling and analyzing information and/or data and writing reports and/or correspondence in a work setting.
  • Experience developing and evaluating policies, procedures, training, and presentation materials.
