Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Inventory Specialist I at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles is responsible for receiving, inspecting, and documenting incoming medical supplies, maintaining accurate inventory records, and ensuring supply areas are organized and properly stocked across perioperative and/or distribution service areas. This role supports daily inventory oversight, restocking, and par-level management, while assisting with training less experienced staff. The position also serves as a resource for supply and equipment information, helping maintain efficient operations and supporting a safe, organized work environment.

 

Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience:
Required: 

  • Some experience in supply chain, materials management, or healthcare logistics.
  • Basic knowledge of surgical and medical supply needs.
  • Considerable, standing, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching.
  • Proficient in the safe operation and handling of manual and electric pallet jacks, dollies, and otherwarehouse transportation equipment.
  • Experienced in moving, loading, and unloading materials efficiently while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Ability to lift and transport supplies up to 60 pounds as needed.
  • Knowledgeable of equipment maintenance procedures and able to perform basic inspections before use.
  • Basic computer proficiency.

Preferred:

  • Basic proficiency in MS Excel, ERP, inventory software.

Education/Licensure/Certification:
Required:

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent. 

Preferred:

  • Introduction to Medical supply needs.
  • Hands-on experience with inventory tracking software.
  • Understanding hospital policies for supply storage and compliance.

The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates who meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates who exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
