The Inventory Specialist position earns competitive pay of $15.05/hr. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN INVENTORY SPECIALIST

As an Inventory Specialist, you spend your day performing moderately complex inventory work. Work involves stocking, arranging, and transferring inventory of all materials and equipment. Maintain the Systems Warehouse and related areas in a clean and safe manner. Possess detailed inventory records, preparing purchase orders, and maintaining an efficient filing system. Maintain an inventory of materials and parts needed for the crews. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement. You are constantly on your toes and ready for any new and unexpected challenges that may arise in the city. When you are not out in the city, you generally motivate and evaluate department staff, and provide training and development. You enjoy being helpful and have no problem providing assistance and support to other divisions within the department as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN INVENTORY SPECIALIST

  • Required Education: High school diploma, GED or equivalency.
    • Education Preference: Associates Degree, or Class "C" Certification in Distribution or higher from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
  • Required Work Experience: No experience required
    • Experience Preference: One year of experience ensuring sufficient inventory of materials and equipment.
  • Must have a current valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Must possess a Forklift Certification
