The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring efficient inventory operations across warehouse, yard, and distribution environments. This role supports operational success by monitoring inventory levels, verifying material accuracy, coordinating receiving and shipping activities, and maintaining organized inventory systems. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and committed to maintaining inventory accuracy and operational efficiency.

What you will do::

Inventory Management

  • Maintain accurate inventory counts through cycle counts, audits, and physical inventory processes
  • Monitor inventory movement, adjustments, and discrepancies within inventory management systems
  • Investigate and resolve inventory variances to maintain system accuracy
  • Monitor stock levels and communicate inventory shortages, excess inventory, or replenishment needs to management
  • Ensure materials are properly labeled, organized, and stored for efficient identification and retrieval

Receiving & Shipping Support

  • Verify incoming shipments for accuracy, quantity, condition, and quality
  • Document and report damaged, incorrect, or incomplete shipments
  • Coordinate with vendors, drivers, warehouse personnel, and yard teams to support efficient receiving and storage activities
  • Assist in preparing, staging, and verifying materials for outgoing orders and transfers

Quality & Compliance

  • Inspect materials to ensure compliance with company quality standards
  • Ensure inventory is stored and handled according to company policies and safety requirements
  • Maintain clean, organized inventory areas that support operational efficiency and workplace safety
  • Support inventory control best practices and continuous improvement initiatives

Systems & Reporting

  • Enter inventory transactions accurately and timely into company systems
  • Generate inventory reports, audits, and operational metrics as required
  • Assist with implementation and improvement of inventory processes and controls
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to inventory activities

Team Collaboration

  • Partner with purchasing, warehouse, yard, operations, and management teams to support inventory accuracy and business objectives
  • Provide support during audits, inventory reconciliations, and operational reviews
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications
  • Work is performed in warehouse, yard, and distribution environments with occasional office-based responsibilities
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and move materials throughout the workday
  • Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50–75 pounds as needed
  • Exposure to equipment, machinery, and operational environments
  • May require extended hours during inventory counts, audits, or business needs
