This individual will be responsible for managing all receiving and inventory control activities to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant receipt of raw materials, components, MRO, and other inbound goods supporting manufacturing operations. This position leads a multi‑shift receiving and inventory control team and is accountable for inventory accuracy at receipt, system integrity, cycle counting, safety, and continuous improvement. The Manager oversees the receiving operation in California manufacturing facilities.

Job Details

The Inventory Control Manager is responsible for managing all receiving and inventory control activities to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant receipt of raw materials, components, MRO, and other inbound goods supporting manufacturing operations. This position leads a multi‑shift receiving and inventory control team and is accountable for inventory accuracy at receipt, system integrity, cycle counting, safety, and continuous improvement. The receiving Manager oversees the receiving operation in California manufacturing facilities. The role fulfills management responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

· Manages all inbound receiving operations, including unloading, verification, inspection coordination, labeling, staging, and system transactions to ensure inventory accuracy at the point of receipt.
· Ensures that all materials are properly received, documented, and transacted in ERP/WMS systems in compliance with established procedures and internal controls.
· Owns inventory accuracy within receiving areas, including cycle count execution, inventory adjustments, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
· Establishes and maintains cycle count programs aligned with business risk, inventory value, and operational needs.
· Investigates inventory discrepancies and implements systemic solutions to prevent recurrence.
· Leads, coaches, and develops inventory control supervisors, leads, and clerks across multiple shifts.
· Plans and manages labor based on inbound volume, production demand, and business requirements.
· Conducts performance management activities including hiring, training, coaching, appraising performance, and addressing employee relations issues.
· Owns safety performance within receiving and inventory control areas, including forklift operations, dock safety, and material handling compliance.
· Leads safety audits, incident investigations, and corrective actions to eliminate hazards and prevent recurrence.
· Partners cross‑functionally with Purchasing, Quality, Manufacturing, Cost Accounting, and Logistics to resolve receiving issues, shortages, non‑conformances, and documentation discrepancies.
· Serves as the functional expert for receiving and inventory control system processes, reports, and controls.
· Develops and maintains standard work, SOPs, and training materials for receiving and inventory control processes.
· Drives continuous improvement initiatives focused on accuracy, throughput, labor efficiency, and space utilization.
· Prepares and communicates regular performance reports and KPIs related to receiving productivity, cycle counting results, inventory accuracy, and safety.
· Maintain reliable and consistent attendance, including being punctual, and dependable in order to meet the needs of the department and the organization.
· Execute each essential duty satisfactorily in order to perform job successfully.
· Follows all safety procedures required in work area, wears PPE as needed, attends all safety meetings, and reports safety issues regarding equipment or unsafe/hazardous conditions.
· Performs effectively as a team member, able to work well with others, open to receive and give feedback, and treats everyone with respect.
· Takes ownership of own work and behavior, accepts accountability for own actions, encourages solutions, and communicates status of work/projects.
· Follow all department quality standards/criteria. Raise concerns and issues to immediate manager.

· Understands department’s key performance indicators and contributes to achieve these goals both individually and as a team.
· Other duties as needed or required.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Minimum of five (5) years of experience in receiving inventory control or warehouse operations within a manufacturing environment.
· Minimum of two (2) years of leadership experience in a multi‑shift operation.
· Strong knowledge of inventory control principles, receiving processes, and cycle counting methodologies.
· Working knowledge of ERP/WMS systems and inventory transactions.
· Working knowledge of Business analytics tools such as Power BI
· Proven ability to lead teams, manage labor, and drive accountability.
· Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and root cause analysis skills.
· Effective communication and cross‑functional collaboration skills.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· AS 400 / Prism knowledge preferred.
