  • Pay Rate: $77.00 / Hour (USD)
  • Shift / Schedule: Monday Friday, 4x10, 6:30 AM 5:00 PM; Weekend call (Saturday/Sunday) only traveler enters a call rotation that also includes weekdays (department hours are Monday Friday 7:00 AM 5:00 PM with call coverage after hours); weekend call is rotated 1:5 with 4 full-time RTs and one travel RT, resulting in two 24-hour call shifts in a five-week time tract and sharing of weekend call days; weekend call shift runs Friday 5:00 PM Monday 7:00 AM
  • Weekend Requirement: 3 4 weekends per contract
  • Travel Requirements: Traveler experience required; locals accepted (rate difference may apply)

Job Summary

This Interventional Radiology travel/contract position is located at a Wilmington, NC facility serving an acute inpatient population, ED emergent population, and outpatient routine procedure patients presenting with bleeds, cancer, end-of-life conditions, fibroids, vascular disease, urological comorbidities, and failure to thrive. The unit performs interventional body procedures including port, PleurX, gastrostomy tube, nephrostomy tube, and perm cath placements; embolizations for bleeding and fibroids; liver cancer treatment/SIRT and chemo-embolization; and Trauma Level I procedures (splenic, liver, and pelvic bleeds). The average daily census is 8, with 2 visits per day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform interventional radiology and special procedures including angioplasty, embolization, gastrostomy tube placement, nephrostomy, stent placement, thoracentesis, catheter/drain exchange, cystoscopy, internal/external biliary drainage, percutaneous transhepatic cholangiogram, renal artery stent placement, ureteral stent placement, inferior vena cava (IVC) filter placement, liver biopsy, and mesenteric angiogram
  • Perform central venous access including non-tunneled/PICC lines, port placement, and accessing/managing ports
  • Perform chest tube placement and Gastrostomy procedures
  • Maintain and set up equipment; stock supplies
  • Accurately monitor patients during procedures
  • Prep access sites for procedures
  • Serve as room circulator and scrub technologist maintaining sterile field
  • Apply and maintain fluoroscopy during procedures
  • Maintain care of central venous lines and PICC lines
  • Observe and enforce isolation precautions
  • Utilize Rapid Response/Code teams as required
  • Document using EPIC; manage medications via Pyxis; communicate using SBAR
  • Operate Siemens single-plane and biplane equipment as well as ultrasound monitoring
