Philadelphia Gas Works (PGW) is offering internships/Co-Ops for Engineering Students in our Field Operations, Engineering, and Gas Processing Departments. Opportunities are available during the academic/calendar year and summer months. The PGW Internship Program is designed for students currently enrolled FULL-TIME at an accredited college or university with a sophomore classification or above ONLY. Responsibilities
This position assists the Manager of Training, Safety Development and Operator Qualification with creating a Culture of Safety within the department. Primary duties include:
• Reviewing injury and motor vehicle accident reports from the field for accuracy and tracking to find trends • Electronic filing of all training documents using an established naming convention • Assisting in the creation and refinement of Microsoft Excel sheets that use code and formulas to track employee Training and Qualification status • You may also be tasked with reviewing current work procedures and updating safety protocols or developing new procedures altogether • This could include trips into the field riding with a Safety Supervisor to observe how our work is performed on a day to day basis • Finally, you could be assigned unique projects as they come up that could include collaborative work with other interns, Supervisors or Engineers from other sections inside or outside of Field Operations
Qualifications
Be a full-time student currently enrolled in an accredited university or college; Pursuing a degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or other relevant field of study; Have a sophomore classification or above; Be in good academic standing; Be able to commit to 15-20 hours per week to the program(year-round interns); Previous internship experience is preferred; Strong analytical and computer skills.
